Whether you should use CBD drops or a CBD tincture really depends on you and how you want to fit CBD into your daily routine. Both are powerful, effective tools at delivering natural, safe relief, but both have their own method of delivery to be aware of.
CBD drops are much higher strength and a much higher concentration, so you use far less of it. They’re also more convenient, as you can take a bit more CBD virtually whenever you want.
However, CBD tinctures are typically lower-cost, not terrifically intrusive, and really not all that inconvenient for the most part.
It really depends on you and, again, how you intend on fitting CBD into your life. Some people find that drops are far more easier to deal with than the traditional method of taking a CBD oil, but some people find the traditional CBD tincture routine more than adequate for their needs.
The first thing people notice about CBD drops compared to typical oils is the strength level.
Typical CBD oil/tinctures are 500 milligrams to 1000 milligrams per 30 milliliter bottle. The dropper is 1mL, so that means 30 doses if taking a whole dropper or 60 doses if taking a half-dropper.
The typical 500mg bottle gives you 16.7mg of CBD per dropper.
However, CBD drops…pack a whole lot more. Typical CBD drops are 1000mg, 3000mg or 6000mg per 30mL bottle.
Since the goal is to use drops instead of dropper-fulls, there are 20 drops per 1mL dropper, which – with 6000mg CBD drops – works out to 10mg per drop…but there are 600 drops in every bottle.
If a person was taking 2 droppers of 500mg CBD per day, one bottle is a 15-day supply. However, 1 bottle of 6000mg drops is a 150-day supply.
Additionally, there’s no ritual to observe; simply add to your favorite beverage, stir or shake a bit and consume.
Faster to take, more economical in the long run, and no need to stop for long to put a whole dropper under the tongue.
But does that necessarily mean you should absolutely disregard CBD tinctures? Not necessarily.
However, a strength of typical CBD tinctures is that they have flavor…that is actually palatable.
A downside of high-strength CBD drops is that they are usually bitter to the taste, to a greater degree than most people are able to cope with if taken on their own. Granted, there are some IPA enthusiasts out there that can’t get enough bitterness, but that’s a whole other issue!
CBD tinctures are meant to be held in the mouth under the tongue for a minute or two and then swallowed. Any oil taken that way has to be made to taste at least acceptably good, so a little bit of sweetener and flavoring agent is added.
Also, CBD oils are not really all that inconvenient when you think about it.
Yes, there is the ritual of taking the oil but how much time does that really take? 2 minutes, tops, which is hardly the worst imposition that is going to be made during your day in terms of demands on your time.
While yes, CBD drops are slightly more convenient in that you just add a drop or two to a drink, it’s not as if taking a CBD tincture is like sitting through an entire opera by Wagner.
It’s also not as if CBD tinctures can’t be added to drinks either.
Some people also find that they only really need to take CBD in the morning and at night. In that case, you take your oil before you leave the house, and take it again when you get home; no need to take it with.
If you do have to take one with you, it’s not as if a 30mL bottle takes up a huge amount of space either.
Another thing to bear in mind is that taking oil in the traditional manner – hold under the tongue, then swallow – also gets CBD into your bloodstream faster.
The blood barrier under the tongue is paper-thin, so you start absorbing it right away instead of waiting for CBD to be absorbed through the digestive system. You’ll feel the effects faster.
Then you have personal preference. Some people find they prefer taking an oil in the traditional manner, and some people also prefer the drops. That much is up to you. Either way, CBD tinctures or CBD drops are a great way to get the relief you need.
